I love sailing because it disconnects me from the internet and all that social media bullshit. I'm not really that kind of person. I crave the connection to the elements—to real-world life and nature. Sailing lets you conquer nature while living in perfect harmony with it. When everything's good, we're just moving with the wind.

To be brutally honest, I was very hungover on a Saturday morning when I met Sergy. I asked him what he does for a living. He said he runs sailing courses. I asked when his next course started, and he said tomorrow—Sunday. I told him, 'Okay, sign me up.' That's how it all began, back in January. I completed the course with him that month. By February, I was sailing with him in the Caribbean. In April, I did my first charter in Greece. And now, this is my fourth trip as a solo captain.
