The Competent Crew course runs on the same dates, 12–19 December, with the ISSA Competent Crew license included. It’s optional: learn the skills properly, or simply enjoy the sailing.

Captain Sergy Almer
Founder and main captain of Elmár Sailing. He left a career in IT for the helm, trained in Ireland’s harsh conditions, and has sailed 20,000+ nautical miles across Europe, Asia and the Americas as an RYA & ISSA licensed skipper.
He talks with every guest before a trip, so the group is the right fit before anyone sets sail. On 7 October that conversation happens with all of you at once.

I’ve never sailed. Is this for me?
Over 80% of our guests had never sailed before. This is an active week, and we’ll explain honestly what that means so you can decide.
Will you talk about seasickness?
Yes, openly. There will be real wind and waves between the islands, and we’ll share how guests prepare and what happens on board if you feel unwell.
Can I get a sailing license on this trip?
Yes, if you want one. The Competent Crew course with the ISSA license runs on the same dates, and we’ll explain how it works in the webinar.
Do I have to decide anything during the webinar?
No. If the week feels right, the next step is a call with captain Sergy, the same as for every guest.
