The concept
No theory course. No exams. Just a week of real sailing — sails up, island passages on a monohull yacht, swim stops and harbour dinners in between.

No experience needed. By the end of the week, you've earned your Competent Crew license — included in the trip, not something extra to buy.

How does this trip work
You will live and travel on a monohull yacht, sailing between the islands, with a new bay or harbour almost every day.
Meet new friends, potential partners for hobby, business, or even relationship! International folks will come from all Europe.
You don't need any experience. You travel and learn on the way. After the sailing week, you can get a competent crew license and feel confident.
Between passages: swim stops in bays you can only reach by yacht, snorkelling, and hikes when we go ashore.

Your License

The Competent Crew certificate confirms you can be an active crew member on a yacht.

Your License

Elmár Sailing School is an accredited organization by ISSA (International Sailing Schools Association). Complete the Competent Crew week with us and you receive a Yacht Crew licence issued by ISSA, signed off by your captain.


It is not a charter license. Skippering your own yacht needs the ISSA Inshore Skipper level, a different course that we also teach. Competent Crew is the step below it.

Tenerife
It is a really unique location because you can see different climate zones and landscapes during a few hours trip. Enjoy deserts, Mars-like lands, and wet laurel forests in canyons. Feel the magic of a vacation on an island with snow-covered summits over hot beaches and thousand year old eucalyptuses.
La Gomera
The island looks like a big almost perfectly round hat popping out from an ocean. Airplanes with tourists don`t fly here, and we repeat Columbus` route to La Gomera under sails. On the land, we go up over the clouds and do light trekking in an ancient wood and jungle.
The route is flexible and depends on the weather and the group.

La Palma
Here we go for a walk near the volcano that recently has been erupting but now is sleeping again. As an option, we can rent 1-2 cars for a short road trip in canyons and forests. Let`s go to a rattling mountain waterfall and then climb to the top to see freshly solidified lava.

Spots and stops
Mallorca coast
Limestone cliffs drop straight into turquoise water, and the best coves (calas) are the ones you can only reach by boat. Perfect for swim stops and your first anchoring practice.
Cabrera
Almost a wild place: a protected national park south of Mallorca, so the trip here feels more like an expedition. A 14th-century castle watches over the natural harbour, and mooring is by permit only, so it stays quiet. If the weather allows, we stop for a short hike and a picnic.
The route is flexible and depends on the weather and the group.

Palma
The island capital, where the trip starts and ends. The Gothic cathedral (La Seu) stands right on the waterfront, and the old town is made for slow evening walks after a day on the water.

I am Sergy – Skipper, with 8 years of experience. I got a license in Ireland after passing the Royal Yacht Association (RYA) program. I am also an official

ISSA-certified sailing instructor and personally signs off on each guest's Competent Crew assessment.

Navigated 25 000+ nautical miles on yachts in the seas and Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans.


I live my life like you and organize soulful trips on seas and oceans in Europe, Asia, and America.


My goal is to open a world of a completely different and unique type of adventure as sailing is to as many people as possible. It happened to me 8 years ago, and now I want to show you how majestic the world can be from a yacht view.


If you want to become my colleague and become a skipper, I have an official permit to educate you and issue a license.
